Each pack teaches one small skill, such as adding within 5 or reading short a words. A page has one kind of activity, and every page in a pack looks the same, so a young child can do it without help after the first page.
Our reading packs follow a fixed order of letter-sounds, starting with s, a, t, p, i, n, m and d. Before a word, sentence or story goes on a page, every word in it is checked against the sounds of that step. If one word cannot be sounded out, the sentence is not used. The only words taught by sight are marked as sight words.
Every math problem and every answer key is worked out by rule and then checked again, so the answer key always matches the page. Problems are kept inside the range on the cover: a pack called Addition to 5 never has an answer bigger than 5.
New designs are reviewed by a person. Anything that does not look right is fixed or removed.
They are practice pages. They do not replace a teacher, a full reading program or advice from a specialist. If you are worried about how your child is learning, speak to your childโs teacher or doctor.
