How to play

1. Say the sounds of the word shown at the top.
2. Your child taps the tiles in order, one sound at a time.
3. The word is checked as soon as the last tile is tapped.

What it teaches

Segmenting: breaking a word into its sounds, and matching each sound to a letter. It is the skill behind spelling.

Which level?

Each level adds a few letter-sounds. Level 2 uses s, a, t, p, i, n, m and d. Higher levels add more. Every word in the game uses only the sounds of the level you choose. See the sounds in each level, or answer a few questions to find your child’s level.

Good to know

• It runs in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer. There is nothing to install.
• No sign-up and no ads. Stars and progress are kept on your own device.
• A grown-up sits with the child. The game cannot hear your child read, so you decide what counts as read.
